International Game Technology (IGT), originally founded as A-1 Supply by William Si Redd in 1975 and later renamed Sircoma in 1978, officially became International Game Technology in 1981. Initially specializing in physical slot machines, IGT was a pioneer in computerized player tracking, linked progressive jackpots, and branded games. The company went public on NASDAQ in 1981 and was listed on the NYSE in 1991, subsequently expanding internationally with offices in Argentina and South Africa by 1994. IGT also acquired gaming companies like WagerWorks in 2005 and Double Down Interactive in 2012. In 2014, Gtech acquired IGT for $6.4 billion, forming International Game Technology PLC. Today, IGT is a major player in both land-based and online slot machines, present in over 300 casino websites, employing over 12,000 people, and operating in more than 100 countries.
