Company history

NetEnt AB, originally Net Entertainment and founded in 1996 in Sweden, has evolved from Cherry, a company making traditional slot machines. Spearheaded by Pontus Lindwall, NetEnts growth was driven by the shift from physical slot machines to online gaming. By 2003, it became a profitable entity, supplying numerous online casinos, with revenues reaching EUR 149.1 million in 2016 and growing 9% by 2020. Despite its acquisition by Evolution Gaming in 2020, NetEnt continues to operate as an independent brand.
